Mathias Michael is a worship leader and singer/songwriter from Cocoa Beach, FL.
Influenced by musicians like Matt Maher, John Mayer, Rend Collective, Relient K, and Housefires; Mathias has a relevant sound that resonates especially well with the younger generation. His music encourages listeners to seek a more personal relationship with Christ by recognizing His constant movement in our everyday lives. In the live setting, Mathias seeks to inspire communities to come together in song and worship so they may experience the liberation and healing that comes from an authentic encounter with the Holy Spirit.
Inspired by his father who was a professional musician in the military, Mathias was passionate about music from a very young age. As he grew older, he continued to cultivate this passion by learning to play several instruments and writing original music as a hobby. Mathias was inspired to turn his prayers into songs after attending a particularly powerful experience in Eucharistic Adoration at a retreat during his high school years. After this experience, Mathias wrote an original song that he performed to win the very first NCYC Top Talent Contest in 2011. As a result, Mathias was given the opportunity to record his debut album and fulfill his calling to minister through music full-time. Over the past five years, Mathias has traveled across the country playing concerts and leading worship for different youth and young adult events, worship nights, parish missions, mission trips, retreats, and conferences. Convicted by the Holy Spirit to serve the Church, Mathias continues to work tirelessly to encourage others to join a revolution of love that is inspired by the heart of Christ.
In 2015, Mathias started a new chapter in his musical journey when he signed with brand new independent label, Rekindle Records. With Rekindle, Mathias released his most recent album “Amplified.” Upon release, “Amplified” received an overwhelmingly positive response. Most notably, the title track was chosen as the official 2015 theme song for Catholic Heart Work Camp. To compliment his new album, Mathias recently released a daily devotional book titled “Amplified: 7 Weeks of Living Out Loud.” In this book, Mathias seeks to inspire a deeper relationship with Christ by walking readers through the stories, prayers, and scriptures that inspired all of his new songs.
In August of 2016, Mathias moved from his hometown in rural Maryland to Cocoa Beach, FL in order to begin a new worship ministry at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community in Indialantic, FL. While continuing to travel the country, Mathias has been blessed with the opportunity to serve his new church community year-round as worship leader and music minister.
